2023 CVSA Roadcheck Results Are In!

Every year, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts a three-day International Roadcheck inspection and enforcement initiative. The purpose of this initiative is to highlight specific violations that both commercial drivers and fleet managers should be aware of.

For the year 2023, CVSA has pinpointed its focus and efforts on two critical areas: anti-lock braking systems (ABS) and cargo securement. While CVSA's overreaching goal is to promote overall vehicle and driver safety, this year's emphasis on these specific violations can help drivers become more knowledgeable and proactive in avoiding future fines or violations.

The 2023 CVSA Roadcheck results for the U.S. revealed the top five vehicle out-of-service (OOS) violations: Brake Systems (25.4%), Tires (19.9%), Defective Service Brakes (14.0%), Cargo Securement (12.4%), and Lights (11.4%).

On the driver side, the leading OOS violations were Hours of Service (39.4%), False Logs (27.4%), and Canceled/Revoked License (8.2%).

Awareness of these top violations can help businesses and drivers prioritize safety and reduce the risk of violations during future Roadchecks.
